Day1: Wow!
What else can you say? The
scenery is absolutely breathtaking and the food is out of site. Of course you have to pay for all of that as
nothing is cheap in
But the country is
definitely worth the price of admission.
The people here were very friendly and the weather during our trip
couldn’t have been better.
We stayed at the
Backpackers Villa (www.villa.ch) which if
you haven’t been to one you should. It’s
kind of like a college dorm for travelers (very cheap) but with a bed and
breakfast spin. You typically share a
room with three to seven others.
Everyone sleeps in bunk beds and shares bathrooms. They serve a hot meal in the morning and
you’re ready for a day of adventure.
We did the white
water rafting thing down the coldest stretch of water I’ve ever
experienced. The river is fed from
melting glaciers atop the surrounding mountains. Every few feet there’s a waterfall and the
water is so cold it hurts your teeth if you drink it.
Everyone had to suit
up due to the extreme temperature of the water.
Of course yours truly decided to march on without the top to his
wetsuit. Let me tell you, all that stuff
you see on television about cold water and how it locks you up and puts in into
hypothermia. Well, it’s dead on,
literally! I just had to try it so I
jumped out of the boat and BAM!!! It
took the wind right out of me. I made it
no further than thirty feet from the boat and could barely swim back. What a lesson!
Later that evening we
enjoyed the nightlife the following day made the trip back home.
