Golden Prague, the city of Slavic legends.
I toured the local Castles,
Cathedrals, and Old Town. From atop the hill at the castle I could see
"Golden Prague", with over 500 church spires and silver winding
ribbon of the Vliava River. Prague's castle is the largest preserved
fortress from the Middle Ages in all of Europe. But perhaps I was temped most by the crystal and garnet shops, or
the windows full of traditionally painted eggs and unique table items. In Karlovy Vary I was absolutely overwhelmed
by the crystal chandeliers and stemware.
Obviously so, as I purchased three sets of the most beautiful porcelain
I could find and had it shipped directly to my home in the states. I can’t wait to see it on the table.
The rest of my time was spent wandering off the beaten path into
Prague's side streets, courtyards, and into the old Jewish Quarter. And finally, I got to enjoy my first
Opera. It was at the National Theatre
that I saw La Triviata. I found it very
relaxing and entertaining, a nice way to enjoy an evening out.
